I wonder if Barnett has too much baggage to be back in coaching this soon.

I guess I could see him at New Mexico or Wyoming.

If Leach wins a national title at Texas Tech, how much do you think it would pony up to keep him? Can they afford $3 million a year? I wonder what Tennessee would offer to get him.

I'm not sure the powers that be at Tennessee are convinced Leach could recruit well enough to win there. That, and he's a bit of a loose cannon. Could be the kind of guy who goes off the deep end once he gets under the microscope, a la Mike Price.

If Venables lands a head coaching job for next year don't be surprised if OU's new DC is Mike Stoops.

Who else is rumored for that job. I'm guessing they're dead set on a huge name.

According to College Football Talk, we can add South Carolina to this list.

    Sounds like Spurrier is retiring.

I believe it happened the last time the K-State job was open.
Yes, Gary Patterson the one, obviously.

    Bill Snyder is the other.

According to my friends still working around that area and with the team, there are more leaks in the athletic department than in my bathtub faucet, which runs continually. There is such a lack of departmental control going on there, it's not even funny.

Does Kiffin qualify as a big name? (Seriously, I'm asking.) I know he's on the list.

Brian Kelly, if he ends up winning The Big East, will probably get serious consideration.

I've heard Tim Brewster, too, though his star has fallen a little in the last few weeks.

I would imagine they'll make another run at Butch Davis as well.

Don't rule out David Cutcliffe. I think he'd take it if offered.

Cutcliffe can win four or five games a year at Duke and never worry about job security. After what has happened to him earlier in his career, that's probably pretty nice to him.
He'll be there until he gets too big for coach K's liking.

If you say so. I think he'd walk back to Tennessee if they asked him.

I think Tennessee is going to look for somebody younger than Cutcliffe. As unrealistic and demanding as SEC fanbases can be, the next guy will only be UT's third coach in the last 30 years.
