Mike Montgomery figured out the academic balance, as has David Shaw in football.

In an unrelated development, Damon Stoudemire to be announced new coach at Pacific on Thursday. Has been an assistant at Arizona.

Stanford should go get Matt McCall from Chattanooga and settle in for a long haul of great seasons. The kid is phenomenal.

Probably should let McCall recruit his own team before he gets a Big Six job.

Western Kentucky just sacked their HC and suspended three players.

"WKU Director of Athletics Todd Stewart announced today that Fredrick Edmond, Marlon Hunter and Chris McNeal have been suspended from the men’s basketball program following the outcome of a hearing conducted by the University Disciplinary Committee Wednesday night.

“Federal law prevents us from public discussion of any details related to student disciplinary cases,” Stewart said.

No information concerning the disciplinary charges or outcome will be released by the University."

Does this sound like a reaction to sexual assault to you guys, or is it boilerplate?

Good question, and a good idea to dump it on the first day of the NCAA tournament, when all the national college basketball writers are scattered to parts unknown (although I guess the Louisville guys aren't busy).

Jumps is a good choice of word for a guy committing career suicide.

You coach for 20 years and finally get a team to the NCAAs - you better cash that ticket. All previous four 20-wins seasons got him was couple of NIT bids and two trips to the CBI.

A friend on Twitter made a very good comment after Vanderbilt mailed it in against Wichita State in the First Four: "Surely Kevin Stallings has coached his last game at Vandy." Can't think of a coach anywhere who has done less with more.
