Cold sending

2-3 weeks. especially if there's no advertised opening the SE won't make it a priority to read your stuff. it'll sit there on his to-do pile and he'll get to it eventually but not right away.

 

That's how I got my first job, too. That was many years ago, but I haven't forgotten how I broke into the business. I keep resumes/clips if they are worthy. I send out a note that it's been received and to keep in touch via e-mail about once a month for an update on openings.
