Coach Sanctimonius: Nominations for poll

Watching the beginning of the Rose Bowl and they spend 10 minutes talking abot why Joe Paterno didn't talk to them, like he's contractually obligated to do.
They spent more time discussing his failure to talk, then they ever would have spent had he actually talked. Grandpa Joe knew this and milked it for all it was worth, while still bellowing that they spotlight should be about the kids.

Got me to thinking about who is the most sanctimonious college coach.
    my nominations:
    Paterno
    Krzyzewski
    Thompson
    Knight

Paterno has been in a strange mood all week.

Wait...so Joe Pa talked to Chris Fowler for ESPN but not the ABC crew for the Rose Bowl? That makes no sense.

You still gotta love JoePa. He's the man.

    Billy Packer :)

  9. We do?

If we're loving grandfatherly, past-their-prime coaches, I'm going to take Bobby Bowden, who has actually spent his career not being an asshole to the media.

All week JoePa closed practices and locked up his players, allowing only two or three of them at the official news conference. He spoke daily, so who the hell are people suppose to write about? Him.
Then he complains about the focus being on him.

And largely given a pass for it.

I resent all football coaches, from Pop Warner on up.
