Coach ledes

Oh, how I hate coach ledes. Anyone I've worked with will vouch for that. And yet, when I got back to the office tonight (my one night of reporting to get me away from my desk every now and then) and what do I write? Yep, a coach lede. To be fair, I didn't know what else to do. It was a 3-0 volleyball rout, and the head coach for the winning team wasn't there. He's in Argentina for two weeks doing volunteer work. It seemed noteworthy for a first-round playoff game, but I still felt a little dirty afterward.

It happens, man. Sometimes there's nothing else you can do. The Pulitzer pile can't grow every night. ;)

You probably already know this, but sometimes, the coach is the story.

Sometimes it's just easier. BTW, how many kills did the coach average during the season? :)

Hey, any lede on a 3-0 volleyball gamer is a good lede.
