Except that after school can bring the same penalties, and the bullies know it. So do their parents.

 

I have a nephew who is in first grade and his sister if really worried that he will be kicked out of his after-school care because if someone teases him he is likely to sock the kid.

It's happened once at day care and the workers here try to pull him away and give him something to do if kids are saying crap to him.

What I want to know is why they don't kick out the kids who pick on other kids, rather than the ones who have had enough and strike back.

 

It was a long time ago, but a buddy of mine got into a fight in high school and the kid he beat up filed a lawsuit two weeks later, citing extreme emotional distress or something like that. Sued the school, too, for fostering an environment for allowing it to happen. It was ridiculous.

I can only imagine that kind of thing happens a lot now.
