Hi, how about we deal in reality.

Rodgers/Brees/Johnson are comparable to Owens/Moss. Amongst the very best for a good stretch (assuming Rodgers and Johnson don't fall off immediately).

The others who were mentioned Rod Smith, Keenan McCardell ... etc. were good but never amongst the best for an extended period of time. A comparison for them isn't Brees or Rodgers. It's more like Vinny Testeverde, Drew Bledsoe and Matt Hasselbeck. Guys who have a lot better stats than most Hall of Famers but are clearly not better than the Bart Starr's, Bob Griese's and Roger Staubach's.

Right. I never mentioned Smith, Mason, and McCardell, though. They weren't in the same class as Owens/Moss. Not even close.

Doesn't matter. At this point, it's steering away from the main topic, which Ragu and I ultimately agree on. That Owens, jackass as he is, is also a HOFer.

Does the NFL HOF clock reset only if you play in a regular season game, or does preseason count? Can you imagine a ceremony with Moss AND Owens speaking in the same night? Oy. Get yer popcorn!

All Pro 5 times should be a marker for getting one into the HOF. But doing it with 3 different teams within a 6 year span also says that teams thought his production was replaceable and that he wasn't as helpful to a winning team as his numbers suggest.

You know who are more arrogant and self-absorbed than NFL players? NFL coaches.

We can replace an all-pro because they are a dime a dozen ...

So very True, but college football coaches are worse than NFL coaches

A receiver is the easiest part to replace on any NFL team.
The problem is this explosion in numbers has made them very expensive.

Vick to T.O. That could work, right?

    Step up, Iggles!

That's misleading. As I said earlier, the reason the Niners were dumping Owens was because they were in Salary Cap hell and couldn't afford to keep him. They were not releasing him because he was difficult. I don't put all of the blame on what happened in Philly on him either. It might be 75-25, but he got frustrated playing with a QB who was a subpar passer and Owens didn't perceive McNabb as being the gamer that he was. Again, the bulk of that was on Owens, but let's not pretend that his entire stint in Philly was a disaster. By the time Dallas dumped him, he was 35.

Also, when Owens was in Philly he had a chip on his shoulder because his former agent completely fucked him over by not allowing him to become a free agent as he left San Fran. Owens didn't get his first huge payday by NFL standards until he got to Dallas.
