The Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., has a full-time opening for a reporter to cover recruiting. This is a digital position, based in Jackson, with a focus on college football recruiting throughout the state of Mississippi, with an emphasis on Ole Miss and Mississippi State. If you want to talk to dozens of prospects and coaches per week and break news 10 times per day (or night) via social media and our website, this is the job for you. The right candidate will be proficient in social media and blogging, be able to shoot photos and shoot and edit video, and be comfortable appearing on camera. Night and weekend work is required. To apply, email a resume, a cover letter and samples of your work — writing and video — to Rusty Hampton, Sports Editor, The Clarion-Ledger: rhampton@clarionledger.com. No phone calls please.

We have filled our recruiting position. John Talty, who has written about sports, business and social media for the last year for the International Business Times in New York, starts Aug. 20.
