Five games each for Lee and Young. No other players suspended.

    Thoughts?

Please keep this one civil. Certain parties got the other thread shut down.

    It's Derrek, with two r's.

Certain little kids didn't know that.

Young and Lee deserved it, but for Young, he'll only miss one start, big deal.

This is part of the problem that I have with baseball suspensions and starting pitchers. Both guys get five games without pay, but the team of the pitcher is only hurt once. He should at least have to miss two starts.

Without steering this toward the less-than-civil, didn't Young relinquish any claim to the "I wasn't throwing at him..." argument when he barked at Lee going up the baseline?

Whether he was or wasn't, everyone will think he was after that.

It's too bad there's no good solution to what to do about starting pitchers.

No, I think a pitcher would be more inclined to utter the immortal phrase "Take your base, motherfucker" :D if he's NOT throwing at a batter, and the guy overreacts like that. ...

As in: "I wasn't trying to hit you, motherfucker; take your base and STFU. It didn't mean anything."

Because if he IS throwing at the guy, then he already gave his response with the HBP.

See, buck, I think that can go either way.

Some guys, plunk him on purpose, that's it, over and done.

Some guys, plunk him on purpose, get a big adrenaline rush, and pop off as he goes up the baseline.

I can't say for sure, but I don't think the mouthing off helps his case...

Bingo. You retaliate to defend a teammate, talking smack while doing it?
    Dumb.
