City of champions?

Detroit remains the only city to have champions in three major sports in the same year
The Lions, Tigers and Red Winds all won league championships
    In 1935
In 2020, the Tigers will have the No. 1 pick, the Lions are at No. 3 and the Red Wings, with the worst record in the NHL, should pick no lower than No. 4
The Pistons only have the seventh-worst record in the NBA but with Blake Griffin hurt, if Andre Drummond gets traded they have a top 5 pick in their sights
Has any city ever had four top five picks in the same season? (Through merit, or lack thereof, not trades)

cleveland and San Diego don't have four major sports teams and I don't think they ever have, but I'm willing to be the Browns, Cavs and Indians might have all had the No. 1 pick in the same year. Off to research.

I'm wrong. Amazingly the Indians have never had the No. 1 pick.

    Cleveland briefly had the Barons
They were the remnants of the California Golden Seals
They were folded into the North Stars

fascinating question. I searched a couple that I thought might sneak in (early 80s Boston and mid 1990s Philadelphia), but they were not in.

Maybe Chicago in the pre Jordan era? Like late 1970s/early 1980s

Nope. The only time the Blackhawks had a top-five pick was 1980. The Bears picked 19th that year.

The Lions and Pistons both had the No. 1 pick in 1980
The Lions took Billy Sims, who would’ve been a Hall of Famer if not for an AstroTurf knee injury
The Pistons traded the No.1 pick to the Celtics for Bob McAdoo
Celtics traded it to the Warriors, who took Joe Barry Carroll
Celtics got Robert Parish and the No. 3 pick, which became Kevin McHale
    Pistons GM?
    Dick Vitale, baby

And the owners later were given the Sharks, and the North Stars were allowed to participate in the expansion draft. And now they are the Dallas Stars.

What a long, strange history that franchise has.

In 2010, the Nationals drafted Bryce Harper (No. 1), the Wizards drafted John Wall (No. 1), and the Redskins drafted Trent Williams (No. 5). Can’t remember who the Capitals drafted.

Evgeny Kuznetsov, who was a pretty key player on their Cup-winning team in 2018.
