    What freshmen (are supposed to) go through at VMI or The Citadel isn't hazing, but it is a form of intense psychological duress that would instantly be labeled as such in practically any other academic setting.

    Yes, that is true. At a different type of school (or setting), it could (perhaps would) be considered hazing.

    Does anyone here actually want to argue that?

    It's hazing everywhere else but allowed at VMI and other military schools, and I'm fine with that. But, please, don't act like it's not hazing.
