But dammit, I soooo could work at the... oh, sorry. Wrong Ohio paper.

Although I think the Enquirer is a bit small on some days (and frankly, what Gannett paper isn't?) it's done a pretty decent job with what it has to cover.

Just a few miles away ... Louisville SE/good guy Harry Bryan accepted a buyout. Haven't seen anything about replacement plans, but that's three potentially good jobs (Cincy SE, Louisville SE, Indy ASE).

Yeah, that's just awful. The Cincy Post had a bigger staff when it folded.

There's a good rumor out there about another Gannett SE being in the mix for this one.

Though not on quite the same level, you might even throw the Evansville SE on the list. And Bloomington is looking for a reporter. There are a lot of good-to-outstanding openings in that region right now.

For years the Enquirer hasn't covered Ohio State. Interestingly, it's only 100 miles, and Columbus is where the Enquirer will be printed.

They also don't cover Indiana University and University of Kentucky -- just as far away -- but OSU is in their own state.

The biggest Ohio newspapers have a fairly extensive content-sharing agreement. The Enquirer runs a ton of copy on Ohio State and Kentucky.

    Six writers?

    Reds
    Bengals
    Cincy
    Xavier
    Preps

I can't imagine covering a MLB or NFL team with just one person, but I'm guessing that's the case.
I'm assuming Kentucky is not covered.

That must be one busy staff.

Talking totally off the top of my head (I know, what else is new) ... I'm betting that they have some pretty solid part-timers, 30- to 35-hour people.

Yes, their website did list a slew of call-in people who I assume also cover games when needed.
