There's no way Kornacki didn't know.

This was NBC telling Matthews "You can have a couple minutes to say you're retiring. Or we'll fire your ass."

I've been around the block but never seen anyone fired while on assignment.

I've been fired twice just before I was scheduled for my shift, but never in the middle of one.

My favorite was the radio station's general manager, asking me to join him for breakfast on a Friday morning, when I was supposed to be doing morning drive newscasts. Apparently my replacement was already on the air by the time we got seated. And I ordered the most expensive thing at Denny's that day.

That was absurd. The suits knew what was coming. You bring people in and tell them on the QT and prepare them. Unless it was a total ambush by Matthews. But still. You don't let that happen.

Chris Matthews deserved this but he’s had an absolutely brutal little stretch here, man.

Never understood why anyone anywhere would would watch a program like this.

    Hardball? Agreed.

But I'm not gonna sit here and pretend I didn't like Keith Olbermann's Worst People in the World. Or that I didn't like Olbermann's show at times. Talent is talent. Outside of the Trump era - where I think Maddow has stunk, hopelessly addicted to Russiagate - Maddow is a good watch, too.

I struggled to discern what Matthews' talent was, exactly. Grating on others?

Matthews has a terrible voice, occasionally irascible on his own program.
Self-styled Philly candor that grew tired two or three election cycles ago.
I am not sure what he brought to the table either.

After reading the GQ article, I'm stunned he lasted this long.

Like Warren, I Had My Own Sexist Run-In with Chris Matthews

My surprise has nothing to do with the off-air harassment or people not coming forward. After #metoo, I'm stunned that his comments about and attitudes towards women that were on air never got him in trouble.
