A TV station in Denver is reporting that Chris "Birdman" Andersen is had property seized from his house by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office of Internet Crimes Against Children as part of an investigation against him triggered by California authorities and ongoing since February. Andersen apparently practiced earlier today but I can't imagine he's going to play.

If there's anything to this story, do we have to change his nickname from !irdman to Chicken Man?

This is the worst written breaking sports story that I've read in some time. From failing to name Anderson to editorializing. Ugh!!!!

Clearly the Nuggets missed him tonight and have no chance of winning this series without him

These kinds of accusations, especially without arrests or charges, scare me. If you're a vengeful co-worker, ex, etc., who really wants to fuck up somebody's reputation, Internet porn accusations are the way to go. There is no better way to damage someone's personal or professional rep, even if there's nothing to the claim. Rape charges are taken with a bigger grain of salt.
That being said, if there is substance to this tale, I really wonder if Andersen's online buddies in the skin trade might include other NBA players.

If this was some jilted ex-lover or some other crank trying to screw him over, I would suspect the investigation would have ended a long time ago. According to the initial story, the investigation started in February and has included authorities in California and Colorado. Not presuming guilt or innocence here, but that tells me there's more to this than just someone trying to "get even" with Andersen.

Although maybe he was just doing some research for a memoir.[/petetownshend]

Anderson's lawyer is saying he's definitely part of the investigation, but that it's because he's being extorted by a woman in California, and that he's a victim here and in no danger of being arrested.
