Chuck Dressen once said that. And he added "Outfielders are the dumbest." In recent times, that would explain Barry Bonds and Jose Canseco, up to Bryce Harper, who I hear struggles with the back of cereal boxes.

Did he go to an Ivy League school, or to Stanford or Cal?

Duh. That's how we know someone is smart in America.

You wouldn't get it. As a Canadian, you don't know what it's like to have institutes of higher learning like we have here in America.

My experience has been that baseball players are generally smarter than sportswriters but that's just anecdotal.

Generally speaking, bud. You can cite smart people in almost every walk of life.

From high school on, baseball players are at the bottom rung of athlete intelligence

It's not all about education, either. The game is also on the lower rung of strategic need among all the other sports. Strategic decisions and game plans are not needed as much as the other sports.

Between this and the weird-ass tangent about teachers on the blizzard thread, we seem to have entered a Golden Age of Threadjacking.

Brad Ausmus doesn't manage like someone with an Ivy League degree.
    He is handsome, though.
