Yeah, but he's saying it only in regards to college football not being the top level.

The pay, prestige, or quality of life at a big time program might be comparable to an NFL job, and it's certainly not equivalent to a AAA baseball manager's job.

But, that's not what Dick's talking about.

For some people, the right college job might be the perfect job. But, for folks driven to compete, with and against, the very best, the NFL is where it's at.

And, Dick sees Kelly as one of those folks.

We need JR to come in and explain how awesome the CFL is.

After seeing the BCS game, I'm going from Bama -7 to Bama -17 against the CFL champ.

Actually, you can make the argument that coaching in the NFL is easier because every player is an NFL-caliber player.

I think big-program college football and NFL football are two different games, requiring two very different skill sets for coaches.

If by saying, "Not sure the big-program college football to triple-A comparison holds up."

you mean "Dick's comparison is the height of fucking stupidity", I agree.

I agree. If the college game were truly a minor league or not as competitive, you'd see guys own it. Charlie Weis called plays for the Super Bowl champion, but he brought Notre Dame to its lowest point ever. Then he went back to the NFL and called plays for a team that tremendously overachieved on offense to make the playoffs. Then he went back to college and sucked.

Plenty of guys who have had success in the NFL but not in college. John Mackovic is another who comes to mind.

Yeah, Charlie Weis just fucking destroyed college football because the schemes are so fucking easy to defeat for a pro guy.

    Jesus Fucking Christ.
