The Trib did a series of stories on oil _ where a tank of gas comes from. It's a great read.

Click on the banner for the story at www.chicagotribune.com. Very good work.

Many of their features -- both in and outside of sports -- are very, very good.

  3. Big newspapers are often able to come up with fascinating, informative features if the bosses are willing to give the writers some time and resources. Remember when Sue Charlton spent a few weeks in the Australian outback and came up with a great feature about Michael J. "Crocodile" Dundee?

Seriously, though, the Tribune has had some outstanding features over the years.
