I was 1-0 lifetime for my very-good high school chess team. (That's how often you get to play a tournament when they have to get down to No. 9.)

I might go trolling in the Yahoo chess rooms one of these nights soon.

I don't know how true that is.

It's looking like I'm going to have a long, boring afternoon at the office. Early deadline because of the holiday, and a section that'll take about 30 minutes to put out. If anyone wants to play a game this afternoon, PM me or just post it here. My Yahoo name is sideshowern.

I play a bit, too (was a member of a library chess club in my grade school-junior high days, and although I don't remember playing against him, former Devils goalie Chris Terreri was in it, too).
When the action gets slow at the office, I play the beaver:

I participated in the national junior chess championship in 5th grade as a result of winning the city schools tournament. My dad and I went because it was nearby in Charlotte that year and because my dad loves chess. I played seven matches, winning three, losing three and drawing one. I remember after beating one kid, his father berating him like a Little League dad for losing to an "unranked player."

Rusty would be Chessboy Magazine's "Checkmate of the Month."
