I would think the short answer is probably no. If Mercedes plans to stay in F1 it would be pretty counterproductive.

    It's a heavy fine, though. $100 million?

And more. When you factor in the way FOM splits up revenue for travel costs, etc., McLaren will see far less of the pie than it's accustomed to.

Although I think they're actually subtracting that money from the fine. It's very confusing.

One hell of a fine, either way.

Still, this falls considerably short of what the early reports were threatening. Never really thought FIA would take away the chance for Lewis Hamilton to win a title.

So McLaren won't end up pulling $100 million out of its pocket. I was wondering where they would find the coin to pony up.

The FIA released the full report including the evidence against McLaren.

This is absolutely devastating, smoking gun e-mails all over the place. Kicking them out for the year hands the constructors championship to Ferarri, but allowing the drivers to continue after seeing their complicity is ridiculous. Alonso knew all year that they were using Ferarri data that was illegaly obtained, yet he gets to continue. No e-mails from Hamilton, just De La Rosa and Alonso.

All of these guys need to watch The Wire to learn how to communicate in a way that can't be traced. To be using e-mail and your own cell phones to do this is monumentally stupid. Didn't they ever hear of burners? McLaren needed to hire Stringer as head of security.
