    Indeed. There was some lame rationale for it. And ND has more money than we can even imagine, so I'm guessing they didn't care about the risks involved.

    I do think they gave him one more season than they should have because of the buyout.

    At a quick glance, I thought BB's payment was $1.9 million, not $1.19 million.

    That's a bit misleading though, since Syndergaard is still a year or two away from Arb-1 so the Mets don't have to pay him much more than the major league minimum.

    I'm surprised more ballplayers don't do what Bonilla did. Figures aside, knowing you may have guaranteed income for 20 years - even after the investments go south, you get cleaned out by a divorce and your accountant steals your money.
