Charlie Weis: Crybaby? Or does he have a point?

Say what you will, the guy's a quote machine:

"I've had more people think I'm the biggest idiot on the face of the earth who have never uttered one word to me. How can you make a judgment on Notre Dame or Charlie Weis without ever having spoken to them? By watching a TV camera on a Saturday afternoon? Is that how you judge people?

"You don't get scrutinized like that in the NFL. ... Of all the things I don't enjoy it's the scrutiny our university comes under without people understanding what we really stand for. And I think that what we stand for are all the things that are right -- a faith-based school, high-character people who have a lot pride in getting a top-flight education."

    BYH, line 1 ...

Personally, I have no problem with Weis, though sometimes he comes off as the whiny, petulant type. He gives it to you straight, pretty much, no bull.

as long as you are a college coach, you talk the talk. charlie's only obligation right now is to notre dame, the folks there and his recruits. YOU TALK THE TALK until it changes.

the giants speculation is just that and never has to be acknowledged by weis. if/when coughlin's fired, charlie's job will be to deny deny deny. if he goes, well, the dream job spin will be used. if he stays at n.d., hey, he always said he was staying.

college coaches dance the same dance every year. it's called self-preservation.

I hear it will cost $15 million for a NFL team to buy out Weis' ND contract. Think the Giants would ever do that?

    NO.
Not with the new stadium they are building with the Jets. The Giants have never been known as having an overly generous payroll.

If the Giants could get Cowher, I think they will open the pursestrings for him. I think a one-shot lump sum of $15 million will be too much for the Mara's to stomach.

Whiny, woe-is-me quotes like this make me think Chuckie's going to the NFL next year. He's already greasing the skids by saying how tough it is for widdle Charlie at ND.

And Charlie, maybe people wouldn't judge you and ND on what they see on TV if you would, you know, deal with people on a decent basis. You want people to utter one word to you? It goes both ways, you elitist, doors-are-wide-open-to-ESPN-everyone-else-can-jump-in-a-lake shit.

Oh and Chuck Taylor please post that Charlie party shot. Thank you.
