Center of the newspaper universe? Claremont. Yes, Claremont!

The Eagle-Times closed 3 months ago, but is up and running again under new ownership. Valley News has opened a bureau in Claremont. Seems like the hot new spot for newspapers on both sides of the Connecticut.

    Competition? In newspapers?
Reminds me of a new publication I spotted at a local market (on the wrong side of town). It's a tab called "Busted" and features nothing but mug shots and costs $1 - the same as USA Today. I asked the guy at the counter, people buy this?
And he said yeah - people want to see if any of their friends, or if they themselves, are in it.
"You only cover us when we get busted for dealing meth."

    That is a great idea.

I assume they print follow-ups for those who are found innocent?

No? Then I'm not so sure it's such a great idea.

    It's called "Busted" not "Convicted."

But it's in the middle of some cool places like the Upper Valley 20 minutes north, and Brattleboro 20 minutes south.

Scoop Sample's papers blow, for the most part. The Maine paper is the best of the lot, and it's coincidentally the furthest from his lair in Huntingdon.
