Jordin Sparks did a damn fine job with the anthem today in Glendale.

gotta admit, whitney and marvin were fantastic. but see, the reason you did mention those two was because they did DO it right and not drag it out until next Saturday or use a plethora of syllables. they get it. whitney just might be No. 1 on the all-time list of best national anthem singers.

By dragging it out, I'm referring to the people who are like, Ooooooooooooh saaayyhh caaaaaaaahhhhn youwwwwwwwwwww see-ih-eh-e-ih-eh-e-ih-eh-e-ih-eh-EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE...

I remember before one of the Super Bowls I covered, one of the older writers asked me who was singing the anthem.

    "Jewel." I said.

"Hmm... Is she the one with the tits?"

When she sang, I thought that it was over.

At least Americans know to wait until the last line or two before starting to applaud. Those Canadians were applauding themselves midway through the second verse.
