"Celeb" national anthems

Know they're here to stay, but aren't the "celebrity" national anthems getting old? It's even reached down to local levels, where it seems as if the anthems have to be sung by some American Idol wannabee, local yokel, etc. And sometimes, the renditions are horrible.

 

No, but it could turn into sport...

 

At the very second I'm reading this thread, TV announcers introduces Martina McBride to sing the national anthem. Awesome. And she can sing, too.

 

Is she a wannabe?

 

Didn't she sing it at the Titans-Ravens game last week, too?
She's like the J.K. Simmons of national anthems.

 

No one will ever top Roseanne.

 

Roseanne will be back...to sing the national anthem before the next big "Beer Pong" event.

 

I thought both of em today sounded great.

 

As HC says, "It's the anthem. It is NOT about you" .

Please spare us the country, hip hop. bluesy wannabe versions of either the US or Canadian anthems.

Sing the damn thing in less than a minute and go away

 

Now, if J.K. Simmons sang the SSB in character as J. Jonah Jameson, THAT would be interesting.
