Please stop calling him Bron. Call him LeBron, call him James. But not Bron. It's just annoying and makes it seem as if the jock-sniffing label is entirely warranted.

  3. I assume that you're riding the premise that I actually care what's said about me on a message board. I'll call him what I want.

  4. So now that's out of the way, can we stay on topic instead of taking pot shots at each other?

Wait. You don't care what people say about you. So why should anyone stop?

  7. Nothing like people like Sportsguydave callin people out of their names behind a keyboard....funny....

    @ Predictor,

Just want conversation, which is why I post on this board. It's a good topic, and people are going to have differing opinions, nothing wrong with that. Just saying that you don't have to disrespect people because they have a differing opinion, that's all. Which is why I'd like to actually talk about the topic, instead of debating on whether or not I'm whatever people want to call me.

I've known LeBron since he was in high school and I used to cover many of the AAU events where he would play. I covered his first game in the NBA and several others during his rookie season. I was always incredibly impressed with how well he dealt with the attention and seemed as friendly and likable as you could hope an elite athlete could be. It wasn't quite on a Jordan level, but not that far off either.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think so, but now he seems to be the polar opposite of that. He's obviously still a great player, but just comes across like a complete dick. I get the sense he "turned" long before "The Decision" and all that. Maybe it was the 2-3 years of speculation that he was going to the Knicks, but when did this guy go from being one of the most likable guys in sports to one of the most hated?

It's be one thing if he went through something like Tiger or if he was one of these people who was constantly bashed in the media.

  10. I think that almost every great great athlete goes through these cycles where he isn't liked, for one reason or another. They almost always come out of it.

Magic had to deal with perception that he got his coach fired

Larry Bird had to deal with the revelation that he didn't have a relationship with his daughter

    Same thing for Dr. J

Michael Jordan had to deal with the gambling, and the perception that you couldn't win a title with him in the 80's

It happens, and it's happening with LeBron right now. I still have yet to see him on a police blotter, or have yet to see anything from him that makes me think he's not an upstanding citizen.

He made a mistake for the decision. He's catching heat for it. But if he would just be quiet, things will get better for him. This isn't Tiger Woods. He didn't cheat on his wife with multiple porn stars. That's part of the reason why I think he will come out of this with his popularity. He made a mistake. He didn't do anything morally and fundamentally wrong

I could do without his idiotic social commentary.
