It was a solar-powered satellite phone. In other words, he could have just made a phone call and been rescued within days. :D

The director decided against revealing it because he said the audience would have hated him for it.

I liked the move when I saw it in the theater, but it's one of those that I have absolutely no interest in ever seeing again.

You don't want to rewatch volleyball porn?

    Awful movie.

Obviously, Hanks went more than all out for the role, but the movie was dreadfully boring and had the most blatant and sickening product placement I have ever seen in a major film.

  5. I find that to be unrealistic and lame.
Of course, the idea that he wouldn't do whatever he could — including going through anything he could find — to get home is unrealistic as well.
    Still, I enjoyed the film.

    Looks like Dooley's a little volley-curious himself.

Road to Perdition was far better movie than Cast Away.

  8. Bullshit!
There is no freaking way. You have to be joking, right?

Wasn't the package sent from Russia or someplace by a guy who was cheating on his wife?

Edit: The director is right. I would have hated him for it.

  9. No way.
RtP was good, but not like Cast Away.
Hanks is just good. I know people will disagree, but I always thought he got everything he deserved from Forest Gump. It was a great movie, deserving of its awards.

Not joking at all ... Zemeckis could have been toying with the interviewer, I suppose, but it's what he said.

I do think it's quite funny, but yes, the audience would have gone apeshit.

  11. That's unbelievable. Un-fuck-believable!

I'm glad they didn't do it.

My only issue with Forrest Gump is that it was a warm and fuzzy film that kept Oscars from a more deserving film like Pulp Fiction.
