  1. How much is the salary? (I skimmed the previous posts and didn't see it.)

That's pretty low considering the paper does consider itself a statewide paper. I thought it would be around $30,000. It should be around that.

my insider sources assure me its 25k

  5. Circulation is 30K -- statewide (we are talking Wyoming here). 25K is exactly where the salary should be.

I was making $26K at a 16K daily in Montana. $25K is low for the state's paper of record.

    Consider, cost of living, etc.
A home costing $400,000 in Northern California costs about a fourth of that in Casper. Plus, you have property.
    It's a good gig.

No state income tax in Wyoming, right?

Casper was one of the country's leaders in FHA foreclosures for a while after an energy boom bust several years ago. Housing there should be quite affordable, as it's not growing quite as quickly as Gillette and Cheyenne, and not trendy like Sheridan or Lander, or DuBois, Pinedale and other Wind River cities.

I'd anticipate lower energy costs as well, which would help for those four-hour drives to Laramie and back at $.29 per mile.

    But yes, Casper is windy.

Turned down a radio gig in Gillette once. Now I hear it's booming again. And state tax or no, 25K at the state's top paper is pretty weak.

The nicest thing about Gillette is the ride out of town.
