I take the same historical perspective when it comes to the White Sox.

Agreed. Long-time Sox fans have some good points (baseball intelligence, loyalty) and bad points (negativity, rabidity) but overall, I'd say they're good fans. The RSN bandwagon is much more annoying.

It's definitely a different mindset. I was a freshman in college during the 86 Series. When Boston won the first two games on the road, I was convinced the Sox would take the Series. My fellow freshman Sox fans remained pessimistic...almost sure that the Sox would find a way to lose. After Game 6, they were certain. I remember watching Game 7 in a room full of 18-year-old Sox fans and it was a cheerless as a morgue...from the first pitch. Very weird experience for me. Where I'm from, people think the home team will win...even if the home team sucks and is obviously doomed.

Red Sox fans have a unique mix of arrogance and pessimism; strange combination.

Someone mentioned Kentucky basketball in this thread, so I'll toss out Duke basketball fans.

Um, I'm a Duke fan, not a Kentucky fan. Looser.

I think 99% of the board can agree that Duke taps wing-tip.

Just loves you some white boys in too-short shorts, eh?

Actually, yes. Though their shorts aren't too short any more. And none of their white boys in the past few years have done anything for me.

    Dahntay Jones, however? Scrumdiddly.
