21 years old....didn't see much of him as a pro but he was a damn good junior d-man.

Reports out today said he got his motorcycle license just two weeks ago.

This is probably the best thing I've read on the terrible accident--from Mirtle's blog:

This just about tears your heart out:

His family, understandably, has remained quiet, but one friend left a message on a blog explaining the incident, saying that Bourdon's girlfriend watched the accident unfold in a car trailing his newly purchased bike

Wow. Thanks for the link, JR.

The death rates on newly purchased motorcycles ridden by people in their late teens or early 20s who have no training are astronomical; this seems to be a sad reminder of that.

Gary Roberts said yesterday that Letang talked to him three days ago about buying one himself. (That's the same day Bourdon reportedly bought his.)

Roberts talked him out of it, "Saying that's something you buy when you're 40, not 20 -- and when no one's paying you to play."

    Eerie stuff.

Ya beat me to this, JR. But I'd like to thank you or whomever mentioned Mirtle's blog in a previous post -- I knew nothing about it, but it's pretty darned good.
