Horrible attempt on my part. But it's time to start drinking.

Regarding the story, this shit is sickening on every level. It seems shallow to call this bullying, though I know the word has been re-stigmatized. It's blackmail and sexual harassment and abuse.

    You think?

I've been drinking for a good part of the night and I did not get the gist of your attempt.

I agree with you on the story.

I really can't argue with this line of thinking. Most religions and belief systems have some kind of similar built in good vs evil structure. What sent me off on the tangent was that evil disproves the existence of god. But what about the good In our world, and you put it quite poinegntly, how would we know or appreciate good without knowing evil.

And this sumbitch who stalked her falls into the evil category. This story sucks on so many levels. I was bullied into oblivion growing up -- although nothing quite as fucked up as what she went through, thank god my childhood was pre social media -- and I lost a sister to suicide. This is totally heart breaking.

This story has been getting a lot of attention in Canada. I saw her video on the news and was absolutely devestated.

I have a 15 year old stepdaughter that I think of as my own. Many of her friends on Facebook also friended me when they first got their accounts a few years ago so I see some of the shit that gets posted.

One of her friends who posted her thoughts on the suicide actually had other teens posting that the girl should not have flashed and brought this on herself, just unbelievable stuff.

I don't think teenagers today are any worse than when I was a teenager but there sure are a lot more avenues to exhibit shitty behavior.

I hope they find this stalker and throw the asshole in prison for a very long time.

I have long believed that 75-90% of girls in those teen years are horrible people, especially when it comes to the way they treat eachother. Boys in the same age group are far more simple minded and predictable in their asshole behaviour. The girls, you have no idea what will set them off or how they will come after you. Lewis C.K. actually had a good bit on it a few years ago. Let me know I wasn't alone in my thinking.

Social media just compounds everything by 100%

Was the original person with the picture of her breasts and the boy she hooked up with the same person?

If not, I have a feeling the original person might have been a pedophile. Either way, there are some serious child pornography charges awaiting someone.

And this shit never happens in a vacuum. Someone knew what was happening that was not involved directly, but their silence was approval.

Why do I feel like we're not getting the full story here? So the school knew about the video, and tried to help but its attempts were futile? And what about her parents? How did the police not get involved, either from the school or from her parents, who must have been informed by school officials who knew about the video.

I don't blame the girl one bit, but the people surrounding her. There are still plenty of questions here left unanswered.

    Gator,

There are some very good questions there, and now that I'm a parent, I've started to research the answers. Several of my close friends have children of varying ages in school and I've asked them what educators do about bullying.

BC had a very ugly bullying-related murder years ago (Reena Virk), and the fact this could happen again is horrible.

The good news is that they are creating very strict policies about cyber-bullying and issues away from the classroom. The bad news is its taken this long. Quite frankly, for a long time schools were too chickenshit to get involved. "Oh, it didn't happen on our property, nothing we can do."

Anyway, my friends were telling me their school just finished creating a special cyber-bullying rule that can result in expulsion Facebook violations. At another school, my cousin and her husband were telling me, you can't have an off-site birthday party for your child unless EVERYONE in the class is invited.

You can be expelled if you violate the rule. Initially, I thought that was wrong -- you can't tell me who I can have in my house off school hours -- but this story makes me think otherwise. Hopefully, these kinds of policies can make a difference.
