A kid from Richmond was playing for the Alouettes so I went up to spend a week with him (this was back when newspapers had money and did things like that). Their game that week was in Hamilton, so went to the game. Didn't spent much time there but enjoyed it. Not on the level of Montreal (LOVED that town) or Toronto (been there several times).

A thread on Canada and no mention of John Candy?

    No orange whips for you.

Cool. Hamilton’s stadium is in a really rough part of town, so I’m just surprised is all. I guess the city does have a few things going for it - hometown of Iron Mike Sharpe and the original Tim Horton’s for starters.

Hamilton is turning into Toronto's Brooklyn. Lots of artistic types started moving there because it was affordable. Then they started running the GO Train from Hamilton and lots of young families and hipsters moved that way and prices started climbing quickly. There are some really great restaurants, art galleries, etc. JR and I head that way several times a month on our road trips.

I’m aware - I live in Burlington. It’s just surprising to hear somebody not from here say they love Hamilton.

Bet it still smells like the world's worst cheeseburger fart.

Is Jackson Square still the Bonneville Salt Flats for the motorized scooter crowd?

Never go there. We hit up Ottawa Street North mostly plus our favourite breakfast spot on James Street North.

Doug and the Slugs? Damn, that's a blast from the early days of MTV.
