Can you count this as a shot on net?

    What is considered a shot on net? I know we don't count posts.

    The team cleared the puck from their own zone (hashmarks) and went all the way down, hops over the goalie's stick and in the net? Can you count this as a shot?

    It's a shot on net if the goalie has to make a play to prevent it from crossing the goal line.

    If it goes in the net, it is, by definition, a shot.

    wicked's definition is correct.

    Don't get me started on soccer shots on goal, though. Those are a pain.

    Yeah, big pain in the ass.

    Shot on net in hockey is when the goalie has to make a save to stop it from crossing the line.

    Therefore wicked, you are right on the money!
