Which is why I delved into what Texas might face. It's a recipe for servitude, because any state that does this will be depending on some other country for food, with the possible exception of California.

    One could only wish...

If the Federal Government is becoming more and more and more tyrannical and doesn't serve your interests, why not? The Constitution, with all of the power grabs initiated by both of our "parties" (Demo-publicans and Republi-crats), is already being shredded to heck. George Wallace was right when he said there isn't a dime's worth of difference between the two parties (proof of this was TARP and the bailouts).

Our own Revolutionary War, Vietnam and the Russkies' adventure in Afghanistan shows that a powerful, conventional army can be defeated in an asymmetrical war by "irregular" forces. Think of all the ex-military types, especially in the South and all of those who own guns. That'd be a LOT of snipers behind every rock, tree and wall. Besides, U.S. soldiers would be loathe to engage in combat operations against their own populace. That'd be one ugly war.

Granted, losing Federal dollars would probably keep most states in line. But the fact we're even discussing such things shows the massive disconnect between the ruling class in D.C. and the people back home. People realize the government is bankrupt, we're about to morph into Greece times a million and massive changes need to be made to restore limited government and common sense.

I believe if it was a North vs. South thing again, it'd be no contest. Yankee libs who hate guns vs. Southerners who love 'em? No contest, just like in football. ;D

If all the Tea Party people moved to Guam, I could live with that.

Yeah, why not? 235 years as the world's leading constitutional democracy, let's chuck it all out the window because a bunch of screamers don't like the result of the last election and "want their countree back."

You don't like the way the elected officials of the current government are operating, go vote 'em out. That's how a constitutional government works.

Oh, and citizens of the United States have no goddamn idea in the world what "tyranny" is.

Good luck, as well, getting any sort of international recognition if the U.S. says it's opposed to your secession.

Further proof that a large segment of the American population only believes it lives in the world's greatest democracy when their guy wins.

Not at all. Just spewing out random quick-thoughts on the subject.

Sadly, those 235 years are being chucked out the window by the current regime. Fortunately, they'll mostly be voted out this November, and their leader will follow them to electoral nevermore in 2012.

    OK, lock it.

And note, once again, as always, which side felt necessary to kick it over the line.

Sugar in the gas tank. Sand in the gears.

It's all part of the plan.

That's how the system works and it's fine with me.
What I can't stand are the Chicken Littles who seem to think the country can't afford to wait for the 2010 and 2012 elections.
This country has survived a lot. It will survive Obama.

You know, that's the thing about these secessionist idiots. They have little faith in the United States, the nation they claim to love. It's love or leave it, not love it and leave it.
