Can anyone convince me that the 1970s were not the greatest decade for music?

    What part confused you?

The first post mentioned a bunch of artists who supposedly would make us all agree the 70s were the best decade for music. I said that without someone aiming a weapon at me, I wouldn't listen to any but three of them, meaning, if you need a translation, that I don't like most of the artists he posted.

    Clear now?

If Skynard is still in the mix we have to include Bob Seager as well.

Creedence Clearwater Revival in the early 70s too. And for another style, don't forget the balladeers: Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Harry Chapin, Kenny Rogers.

And Country. Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard became the country crossovers. Nelson's Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain was about 1975 I believe.

Up until 1976 REO was much harder. After their live album they turned the corner to pop.

Among other places. They were at Famous Dave's in Hawley, Wis., several years ago and could still put on a great show.

"Shakedown" is an awfully solid album.

    Barry Manilow.

We have to talk about Barry Manilow.

He had hits in the 70s:

The guy writes the songs that make the whole world sing! Don't you people listen?

Anyway, Barry wrote jingles, too. I had no idea Barry wrote jingles.

"Like a good neighbor State Farm is there"

"I am stuck on Band-Aid, cause Band-Aid's stuck on me"

A man of many talents, to be sure.

They were the Cabooze 'house band' in the 70s for a while. We used to go there and to the Joint next door. Great bars.

Pat Hayes still can bring it, from what I hear.

Was the Famous Dave's in Hayward, maybe? If so hope you made it to Al Capone's Hideout.

IF ANYONE SAYS ONE CROSS WORD ABOUT MANILOW, THEY WILL BE CYBERSTALKED. And I'm good at it, too.

Music is subjective ... except for Manilow, who is all things to all people.

I know of your love for Barry..

    I was nice..

The jingle thing was news to me.

We're talking about the 70s. How can we not bring up Barry?
