California spillway collapse

    This is a very poor area in a low-income county.
    Many people probably don't have working vehicles.

    It's not the dam itself, but the spillway. The spillway has a lip at the top of it that keeps water in the lake until it reaches a flood elevation. If that lip collapses, the lake will all spill out at once. It'll be in effect just as bad as a dam failure.

    This is real bad. And, yes, it's the spillway, which has never been used before. This has the makings for an epic disaster.

    Take that crap next door to the politics thread. We're talking hundreds, if not thousands, of people's lives in danger here.

    About an hour or so north of Sacramento, so that may be in danger as well. Worst case scenario, of course ... but that's what we're approaching.

    It's red alert up there. Friend on Facebook who was summoned to work up there. "It's worse than is being said."
