    He was blowing smoke. DirecTV has the NFL wrapped up until 2010.

    I have charter and don't have a problem with the cable -- other than not having enough HD stations. If I leave Charter, it will be because of its crappy internet and months worth of arm-wrestling to get it to work right.
    Actually, it worked fine for about six months. Then they worked on the lines to get them ready for telephone service.. and I';m back to square one.

    That's what I thought, too, but he said something about one owning 51 percent of the other. Also, hasn't Verizon been offering DirecTV in some of its packages? Could that be why FIOS may be getting the NFL?

    No, it's exclusively satellite. He knows not of which he speaks.

    If you want the MLB Extra Innings package or the NFL package, stay away from Dish Network. Otherwise, it's generally a better deal than cable.

    Except that back then, you got your 3 network affiliates, HBO and WOR.
