    Smasher nailed this. Those seeking elected office, or already there, should have some connection to the people who put them there. Baudy clothing would seem to indicate a weakness in that connection.

    Outside of politics, ordinarily I'd say it's nobody's business what rich people spend their money on, but he went public with it, so he's fair game. If Tom Brady wants a gold-plated toilet seat, well, that's between him and the harbor. Go public with it like Bissinger did here, and it's a different story.

    I don't think there is anything wrong with men spending money, or too much money on their clothes. Talking about it is douchey. Judging someone else on their expenses is equally douchey.
