Buying a Laptop

    You just need to do a system restore to a date before you installed the new portable HD.

    As long as you've got you're stuff backed up, doing a system recovery might not be the worst thing. You'll be amazed at how much faster everything works when you're done. As far as Geek Squad goes, actual mileage will vary (depending on where you go and who you get), but I was just there earlier this week and they're heavily biased towards selling you new stuff. I assume that's where the money is? If you ever buy a laptop from Bestbuy, the extended warranty isn't the dumbest thing in the world you could do. It's supposed to cover accidental damage, so if your machine runs without issue for 3 or 4 years (depending on which one you get), you could "accidentally" drop it and get a machine that in four years from now would probably be the stuff of science fiction. That's assuming Best Buy doesn't go the way of Circuit City though.
