A_QB and Kevin Gregg make amends!

"I used to love to hate you, now I just hate to not love you, Kevin."
    "Thanks man."
    "Die in a fire."
    "Oh YOU!"

Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith would be proud.

I'm sure the feelings are mutual. If they want to spend money on this, that's their business.

What kind of jackasses let a 16-year-old girl sail around the world by herself?

Shocking. Parents should be thrown in jail for negligence.

Yeah. That's a pretty dumb idea in the first place.

Tragic situation, but a family that lives its lives to the fullest and without a "normal" safety net ("Just stay at home and play on Facebook") should not automatically be hauled into jail if something goes wrong. What if she had died jumping out of a plane? Or was kidnapped on an student exchange visit to Peru? Where exactly is the line separating "adventure" from "insanity"?

How many parents hand their immature kids the keys to the car, only to see them a few hours later in the morgue?

I'd submit that a trip to Taco Bell is slightly less dangerous than a solo sailboat trip around the world.

    And from the AP story
-- Wonder what that would cost?
-- Let's just drop everything and go try and find her. I mean, we've got nothing else going on.

Yep, the comparison with jumping in the car and sailing across the globe doesn't work.

I don't know exactly where the line is drawn between adventure and insanity, but letting a 16 year old sail by themselves around the world is way, way over that line.
