So let me get this straight: the President uses the word "appeasement" to smear the Democrats based on the fact that they might want to negotiate peace with the main players in the Middle East - then the next day goes to Saudi Arabia on bended knee to beg oil from the country that gave us 15 of the 19 September 11th hijackers.

    Genius.

That's simply not true, particularly in the short term - like the next ten years -- which is what we really need to get through until we can develop some of these alternative sources of energy that have been discussed on this thread, you know, like solar, nuclear, bunnies, corn, bunny holes, corn holes, ethanol, either, edith from All in the family.....

There are lots of things we could do about the high cost of gas -- from simple to drastic -- but we can't do any of them when the president is in the back pocket of the oil barons.

If we haven't developed those alternative energy sources in the last 100 years, what makes you think we'll do it in the next 10?

I see what you're saying, but "necessity the mother of invention" and all that.

If the price of gas drops (which won't happen, but let's play along for the ANWR crowd), the incentive to search for alternative fuels drops, too.
