I found this Peggy Noonan piece somewhat amusing. Bush is now aiming the same "if you're not with me you're against America" type rhetoric at members of his own Republican base.

Democrats who've endured the Bush presidency can at least take solace in how severely it has fractured and damaged the Republican party. Honestly don't know who's gonna be left in Bush's corner when his time in office mercifully comes to an end.

    His dog. That's it.

  3. This is going to be the meme - he was never really a conservative.
They all learned too well from the Communists. It's never what they believe that's wrong, it's the people they elect.
And Noonan, well, she's just fucking nuts.

Richard Cohen already wrote that column the other day. Revisionist history at its finest.

Some where, Mike Lupica is frowning and Jason Whitlock is smiling.

  6. And Tucker Carlson did 20 minutes on it today.

I posited this on the thread when Bush's approval ratings hit 28 percent.

He has no real way to raise them, and, frankly, he might have begun chipping away at the last holdouts.

If so, we could see the least popular president ever in the age of random sampling.

Maybe he's just still shoring up his base and cleansing it of the "traitors"?

If that becomes the mantra from the right, liberals should counter forcefully.

And once again, Paul Krugman shows the way:
