Bush administration made over 900 false statements in lead-up to Iraq

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by sportschick, Jan 23, 2008.

  1. None of that is remotely true.
There was no rule changing. The Florida Supreme Court, as was its recognized right throughout recorded constitutional history, ordered a recount. The corrupt SCOTUS, with at least two and possibly three members having blatant conflicts of interest, stepped in with an unprecedented meretricious decision and denied the right of the state court to adjudicate an election. If what you say is true, o_t, then why did the SCOTUS specifically require that Bush v. Gore NOT be a valid precedent.
    I will tell you.
    1) because they got the result they wanted and
    b) if it were, no close state election for the next 20 years would ever end.

And then, we all got lied into a war.
    The end.

No, they stepped in and ruled the SCOFLAws method for recounting the ballots was unconstitutional. And it was by a 7-2 margin, so two of your liberals even had to fess up and be honest.

Florida law required all counties to certify their vote totals within seven days of the election. Miami-Dade, Palm Beach, Volusia and Broward Counties were still trying to manufacture new Gore votes into December, well past the Nov. 14 deadline.

Oh, and getting this thread back to its origins, 60 Minutes tomorrow will show that it appears it was Saddam who lied us into the war.

  3. That's the canard.
The 7-2 vote was to send the case BACK to Florida for the officials there to determine a procedure that the court would not find defective.
The 5-4 vote -- and check out what the "two liberals" said about that -- was to stop the counting entirely and to declare a winner, which is something the Supreme Court had never done and something it guaranteed it could never do again, because Bush v. Gore was specifically handed down as non-precedential, which makes it even more of a crime.

As for the second part, it seems that 3000 Americans have died because this administration and Saddam's had roughly the same attitude toward the truth.
Do you honest to god believe that this war was a good-faith mistake?

Saddam was weak . . . but wanted Iraq to appear strong to neutralize Iran.

The U.S. foiled that ruse, made Iraq an impotent mess for the entire world to see . . . and Iran is stronger than ever for it.

    Good job.

  5. Mission accomplished.

Does anyone remember why Gore wanted to throw out the absentee ballot military vote in FL?

  7. Because he didn't.
He suggested that ballots that didn't conform to the standards of the law ought not to be counted. In other words, nobody's nephew at Ramstein could fill out his ballot in crayon, staple it to a banana, sign the confirming affadavit "Napoleon Bonaparte" and mail it in and have it count.

Hmmm for some reason, I thought I remembered that he wanted none of them counted, not just non-conforming ones.
