The UK isn't a huge export market for the EU. A recent study found that only 4% of its annual exports in goods and services go there. As opposed to the nearly half from Britain that goes the other way.

British companies exporting to Europe will have to file a whole bunch of paperwork showing that they're adhering to all these basic standards. It's not just a customs declaration. What's more. we'll now have part of the United Kingdom - Northern Ireland - still part of the EU free market. That means checks and controls within a single nation.

So, yeah. The cost of labor goes up, as well as the cost of exporting. British business groups - like the Confederation of British Industry - would have gone for Brexit if they thought it would benefit them. They didn't and it won't.

I think the British leave their island for the continent much more than you think and have family in Europe far more commonly than we do.
Now you have to purchase travel health care, get your pets checked by a vet, your mobile might be roaming... they would go to France almost like we went to Florida. Now, not so much.

The UK runs a decent-sized trade deficit with the EU. It doesn't matter what percentage of the EU's exports go to the UK relative to its other trading partners. For the purposes of their relationship, all that matters. ... is their trade with each other. And the UK imports quite a bit more from Europe than it exports there.

The Brits reap what they sow, and they’re going to end up with a united Ireland or an independent Northern Ireland as a result.

There aren't enough bus drivers in Massachusets, so the state called out the National Guard to get kids to school. That was caused by Brexit, too.

These worker shortages -- like the container ships backed up at the Port of LA without enough trucks in the U.S. to ship things either -- are not the product of simplistic political narratives that people want.

Between fiscal overspending and the debt that came with it, and the monetary authorities around the world that have been monetizing that debt for years now by creating money out of thin air and buying up trillions of dollars of debt (going bonkers with the craziness because the pandemic gave them an excuse), they have made a mess. They way overstimimulated demand with too much cheap money, which is driving prices of things through the roof and has created some very serious supply problems that are hitting all kinds of things.

That is the reap and sow story going on right now. And it's not just a UK thing.

It was so convenient that Trump just happened to be in Scotland the morning after the vote.

Funny how the £350m a week Nigel and Boris said Britain would saving from not funding the EU never ended up in the NHS, like Nigel and Boris said it would. Wonder who got their mitts on it. Perhaps Nigel and Boris. Or perhaps it was bullshit all along.
