Looks like the U.K. (at least England and Wales, anyway) will vote to leave the EU. British Pound surged on early news that "Remain" would win, but has dropped to a 30-year-low against the dollar.

The EU will be completely defunct in 5 years.

With the U.K. gone there will be nobody willing or able to stop Germany from making a move for complete control of the EU, and very shortly the rest of the members will get sick of that, and hasta la vista.

Time for Scotland and Ireland to leave the UK.

Northern Ireland is a political mess. Most of the population does not want to join the Republic. They'll have to slog through while depending on London for cash. The parties first have have to learn how to govern on a non-sectarian basis.

    The referendum is not binding.

Cool story. Doesn't matter if it's binding or not. Technically, nothing is binding in the UK. Governance is based on custom.

So the EU is basically the Big 12.

But is the eu an automatic qualifier in basketball?

Since Britain is leaving, the EU will be so mad that they'll put Liechtenstein on probation.

The benefit for every British government is that the EU redistributed a lot of the cash that the UK sent it to Scotland, Wales, the perpetually screwed areas of the north.... And to Northern Ireland (particularly agricultural subsidies.)

Now that Westminster has to make these decisions, it'll be a nightmare for anyone in power. ("Why are northern Ireland cows getting cash we need for our local hospital in Liverpool?!")

But hey, it's a super-duper time for Americans to take a vacation in London when the pound crashes. Tour our soon-to-be-historic financial sector before it leaves for Dublin and the Continent.
