It's a ballsy move. Since Sabathia and Sheets are both presumed to be gone after the season, it's all or nothing right now.

  2. While, last night, Zambano pitched a no-hitter in Milwaukee. Against the Astros.

Some of Yost's recent comments - and game decisions - have been head-scratchers. Definitely a strange move considering the time left in the season, but it looked pretty apparent that the Brewers were sliding away from the playoffs with Yost in charge. Lucky for Sveum he gets to face the Cubs first - a team the Brewers have trouble beating (at least CC will pitch the first game since Yost didn't pitch him Sunday).

And this definitely was a higher-up call. The press release even intimates it (group decision).

Brilliant move. Teams have a funny way of getting better in a hurry under new coaches (or managers), and this was a really good team that was two weeks from being managed out of the playoffs. They'll win the wild card now, and they'll play the Cubs in the NLCS.

This move sucks for the rest of the NL. Didn't matter who they replaced him with, even Sveum.

The Brewers were 4-2 against the Cubs at Wrigley in April ....

And yes, I know they shit the bed at Miller Park in July.

The funny thing is look at the standings on June 1... Seven games back and in fourth place. Then by late July, tied for first with the Cubs coming to town for four games. Lose all four and haven't been in it since.

Still, if you told a Brewer fan that on Sept. 15, they would be tied for the wild-card lead with two weeks to play, the last thing they'd have expected was this.

This is extremely disappointing news. One can only hope he's on the Cardinals' short list when LaRussa leaves.

    The NL Central needs Ned.

Umm, they did go 20-7 in August to build a 5.5-game lead in the Wild Card. I would say they were in it.

And by the way Bat, Boob Selig doesn't own the Brewers anymore. Just wanted to let you know that! :). This is turning out to be a crazy ass Monday.
