Incorrect. That was the next year ... it would've been in Carolina. Philly choked against the Panthers that year.

And I still say no fucking way did Freddie Mitchell get that first down ... that was a 24 1/2-yard completion.

I stand corrected. Thanks, Gutter. I'm thinking of the next year, when I covered the Falcons. I was going to *travel* to Carolina (as a fan, not working) to go to that NFC game if the Packers had stopped that 4th-and-26. Just got my years mixed up.

And it doesn't matter if it was 24 or 26 or 124 yards on that play. If you can't stop a goddamn 4th-and-forever with a minute and a half to go and the lead in the playoffs, you don't deserve to win the ballgame. As much as I wanted the Pack to win that game, no team should be allowed to convert on 4th-and-forever.

Damn that game and day still pisses me off. Waited 2 1/2 hours in the security line at McCarren in Las Vegas, resorting constant score updates from my parents over the phone ... finally getting through security line midway through the fourth quarter. Found an oasis of a bar in the Midwest Airlines wing ... overflowing with Packers fans and them holding the lead.

Things were looking great ... and got better when lo and behold of all people Mike Tice (must've been at the porn convention in town) siddles up besides me (two weeks removed from McCown-Poole ... I didn't ask him if he was enjoying his offseason). He asks me what the score was. I told him with a smile and he proceeds to his gate ... all hell broke loose from then.

Wasn't Namath's end for the Rams pretty sad and pathetic?

One thing for sure Brett should get out of the wine biz. I had one of his "big" cabs the other night. I don't think battery acid could have tasted worse.

If you listen carefully, you can hear a headset from the other radio guy being thrown. :D
