When you fly as much as some of us have, it's almost a given that you have had a scare or two...

They're getting ready to bring it in. It's now on final approach.

The latest is the plane's instrument panel shows all 3 wheels down and locked, which is good news.

Uh, yeah, I'm sure that's the main reason. ::)

    Land safely.

Crisis (no matter how small) averted. Kudos to the pilots.

Oh, so planes burn off fuel on a regular basis? *wink, wink*
    Just say...flame minimalization.

No, there really is a max landing weight.

Let's use some common sense: If you had a problem with any part of the landing gear, would you really want a plane to land over its allotted weight? Doing so would greatly stress normally-functioning gear.

I'd throw passengers and luggage out the window before wasting expensive fuel.

I think the newsvans are on their way to my apartment to cover this thread and how it's evolved. Judging from some of the concerned posts, panic has spread across the nation.

The absolute worst had to be the JetBlue plane that had to land without its gear down, with the passengers on board being able to witness the saga as it unfolded on their DirecTVs.

Being on this plane and looking down for the flyover? That has to be pretty bad as well.
