Edwards promised a group of eighth graders years ago that if they graduated high school with above a 2.5 GPA and 15 hours of community service, he'd give them each $10,000 for college. Seventy-nine qualified and he lived up to the promise, doling out $790,000, plus laptops and other supplies to the students.

His base salary this season is $1 million.

He's screwed up plenty in his career, but this is a nice job by Edwards.

Well, he sure hasn't earned it this season.

    Kidding. Cool story.

What a great thing to do. Guess I'll stop ragging on him and start whispering under my breath to cheer for him despite his lack of production and frequent injuries.

To bad that SI sportsman of the year balloting has closed.
    What a terrific story.

Antonio Cromatie is doing something similar except with his own kids.

I'll bet he thought he was going to be making a lot more money back when he made the promise.

Good for him for following through...

I'd wager that Cromartie hasn't set aside $10 for his kids education.

I dont know he's saving a lot of money by not buying condoms.

Glad to see him make good on this, since he's dropped the ball so many times in the past.
    Good on him.

I agree, but I think that makes the story all the better. And on top of that, I think more kids qualified for it than anyone could have guessed. He's giving up a much larger percentage of his income than I think he ever expected, but he's still doing it. He's coming through for these kids in big way.
