New English boss Steve McClaran wanted to make a fresh start with the team, naming his own captain to the team as Beckham was seen as one of Ericksson's boys by everyone in England. Then the team had some bad results in Euro qualifying, and Beckham was welcomed back and did a fine job in his first two games back.

Yes, great idea: make a fresh start.
You might not make Euro 2008, but at least you've made a fresh start.
Brilliant! as the lads over there might say.

Did you catch SJ's own Poindexter jump out of the stands and challenge Beckham.

I'd say this pretty much slams the lid on the Beckham experiment.

So a bunch of unwashed Yanks finally got Beckham's goat.

After years and years of hostile international matches.

    Screw him.

And LOL LOL for the two-year bump.

, "David Beckham is a global sports icon who will transcend the sport of soccer in America." Don Garber MLS Commissioner.

Maybe Dave is trying to ramp up soccer excitement in the U.S. by starting European style soccer riots

Yeah, I mean it wasn't his 60-yard pass that led to the Galaxy's first goal on Sunday, and his exquisite corner kick that led to the second, and he's not still playing at a high-level and for the English National team.

He's completely past his prime. ::)
