Sales of Hummers over all have fallen so far — 51 percent last year, the worst drop in the industry — that General Motors is trying to find a buyer for the brand. Without one, the company might close Hummer. An announcement about Hummer’s fate may be made Tuesday.

No fucking wonder they're on life support.

    Jesus.

I think it has more to do with the hefty sticker price and the $4 per gallon gas last year.

Either way, they brought it on themselves.

    OK, I'll say it.

What did he do to piss off 21?

That out of the way, Hummer was a paradigm for lack of vision.

The Hummer falls somewhere between conspicuous consumption and wretched excess. I'm learning towards the latter.

My neighbor, who sells fireplace accoutrements, has a big yellow H2. It's on his business. Why the hell else would you have one?

The original, military version was the best, but it's no longer available. Also, it was damn uncomfortable.

Good. Serves GM right. Wasteful and unnecessary, good for nothing other than compensating for a physical shortcoming.

Should Hummer be nuked, I would get an H3 — the downsize SUV. Anything else they sell is just too damn big.

And if I remember correctly, the only reason GM put it into consumer production was a hue and cry from the conspicuous consumption and wretched excess crowd, not a "Hey! People will buy this!"
